Zachery Fisher (right), a 22-year-old from Roanoke, Va., the Purple Heart Medal during Amos’ visit to Marine Corps Base Hawaii, Aug. 3, 2012. Fisher, a rifleman and fire team leader with 3rd Platoon, India Company, 3rd Battalion, 3rd Marine Regiment, was injured in an improvised explosive device attack in the Khan Neshin district of Helmand province, Afghanistan, Feb. 19. Fisher’s friend and fellow team leader Cpl. Matthew Gusty stood by his side during the ceremony and received his Purple Heart for injuries sustained in the same attack. Gusty, 26, is from North Versailles, Pa.
