Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal with Combat Distinguishing Device

NAMHeroic achievement in the superior performance of his duties while serving as a Rifleman, 2d Squad, 1st Platoon, Company K, 3d Battalion, 3d Marines, Regimental Combat Team-7, I Marine Expeditionary Force Forward, on 3 June 2006, in support of Operation IRAQI FREEDOM. While providing security for a static detachment, his position came under an enemy small arms and indirect fire attack from multiple directions. Private First Class Warren positively identified the threat, and immediately returned accurate suppressive fire. Disregarding his own personal safety, he bounded towards the enemy aggressors in order to gain a position of advantage. Continually exposing himself to enemy fire, he effectively engaged the enemy, forced their hasty withdrawal, and was able to fatally wound one of the attackers. Private First Class Warren’s initiative and decisive actions in the face of the enemy directly contributed to the defeat of a complex attack and the capture of enemy weapons and propaganda videos. Private First Class Warren’s initiative, perseverance, and total dedication to duty reflected credit upon him and were in keeping with the highest traditions of the Marine Corps and the United States Naval Service.
